What To Expect
Tournament
Details
Every P3 Sports tournament is run to the same professional standard — quality officiating, real-time scoring, and a focus on the athlete experience.
The Series
P3 Sports operates three distinct tournaments each spring — the Next Gen Cup, the Kozak Cup, and the International Expo. One standard, one pathway, one weekend that matters.
Every tournament runs a guaranteed game format with tiered divisions, so teams are matched against comparable competition from the first puck drop through the medal round. Games are played at first-class facilities across Cochrane and Calgary, including the Spray Lakes Sawmills Family Sports Centre, with schedules published in advance and updated live through SportNinja.
Below you will find the details that matter for planning your weekend — dates, locations and divisions, what is included for every registered team, the rules and formats we play under, and how our staff supports managers from registration through the final buzzer.

Rules & Format
Every P3 Sports Inc. tournament is professionally managed with certified officials, structured game formats, and a commitment to the athlete experience.
Officials
Contact games feature 3 qualified and certified referees. Non-contact games feature 2 referees.
Scorekeeper & Penalty Box
Both the scorekeeper and penalty box are run by paid P3 Sports tournament staff at every game — no more parents.
Game Slots
90 minutes for most divisions, 75 minutes for U7, U8, and U9 Bronze. Two 20-minute stop-time periods and a running-time third. Referees drop the puck regardless of centre readiness to maintain game speed. Final five minutes are stop time in all playoff games.
Contact & Hitting
P3 Sports tournaments feature body contact for the upcoming season. Many minor players are moving up to contact for next season — please ensure your players have received contact instruction prior to competing.
Warmup & Format
5-minute warmup for all games to maximize ice time. Tournament format changes based on the number of teams in each division — details are provided to managers prior to puck drop.
Game Conclusion & Awards
Teams line up on each blue line after the game and hand out their own Player of the Game award. Championship games include an extra 15 minutes for the presentation of medals and championship rings.
